If you enjoy your creature comforts, a pint in the sunshine and the great outdoors, this blog is for you! We’ve rounded up the three best Dartmoor camping spots near pubs. Because getting wild doesn’t mean you have to forego the things you love.

One of our earlier blogs covers the top three pubs to visit on Dartmoor. All are great places for a drink and a meal any time of year, but they don’t offer pitches or plots for campers and caravanners. So if you’re looking for the ultimate relaxation on holiday, with all you need on your doorstep, read on!

Langstone’s camping & touring park on Dartmoor

We are one of the few camping grounds within the bounds of Dartmoor National Park. And we’ve got a fully licenced bar and restaurant too! The bar and restaurant are found in the original Stone Farm Manor House, once owned by the Duke of Bedford’s brother-in-law, Samuel Lang. Take a short walk from your pitch or pod to let us take care of dinner time. Our bar and restaurant are open every evening.

Dartmoor is our ‘backyard’, and of course yours to enjoy too. We cater to all types of outdoor lovers with pitches for tents, as well as camping pods, static caravans, electric hook-ups for caravans and motorhomes, and holiday cottages. It’s an ideal spot for taking a relaxing break.

You’ll find all you need on the grounds for an enjoyable and memorable holiday. And of course, exploring Dartmoor’s tors, wild landscapes and historic towns is as easy as heading out for the day on foot or by car. You’ll want to come back, time and again for another wonderful getaway in our corner of the Dartmoor (not so) wilds.

The Fox and Hounds Dartmoor campsite and camping barn a little to the northeast of Langstone Manor Park, in Lydford, is the Fox and Hounds Hotel and Restaurant. Popular with walkers and campers alike, this Dartmoor camping spot is right next to the pub. The fully functioning bar and restaurant are open every day of the year.

A small trackway behind the building leads directly onto the moor. The Fox and Hounds offer bunk bed accommodation in the YHA camping barn along with a camping field that’s open to tents, caravans and tourers needing electric hook-up points. The building also has quaint hotel rooms above the bar and restaurant with all the usual creature comforts.

You’ll get a warm welcome and a tasty meal too at this family-run Dartmoor camping site. We happily recommend the Fox and Hounds to guests looking for a pitch or room on Dartmoor when our site is full.

River Dart Country Park on the south side of Dartmoor

This family tourist attraction and campsite also offer a pub to quench your thirst and fill your belly! The Old Sawmill is only open to guests staying at the River Dart Country Park in tents, cabins, or caravans.

The Old Sawmill is open seasonally and offers outdoor seating, buffet breakfasts on weekends, a Sunday roast carvery and a fully licenced bar that opens at 6 pm each day.

Found in Ashburton, the country park offers a range of activities to campers and families too. Choose from bike rides and agility trails or canoeing, kayaking and zip wire courses for the brave of heart.
